First or Second Focal Plane?

FFP (First Focal Plane) scopes have reticles that grow and shrink with magnification—holdovers are accurate at any power. SFP (Second Focal Plane) scopes have fixed-size reticles, so holdovers only work at one magnification (usually max). FFP is preferred for tactical and precision shooting where you dial magnification frequently. SFP works well for hunting where you typically shoot at max power. FFP scopes cost more at similar quality levels.
