Understanding Thermal Specs

Resolution (measured in pixels like 640x480 or 320x240) determines image clarity. Higher resolution means better target identification at distance. Refresh rate (30Hz vs 60Hz) affects motion smoothness—60Hz is preferred for scanning and tracking. NETD (thermal sensitivity) measures the smallest temperature difference detected; lower is better (under 40mK is excellent). Pixel pitch affects sensor size and zoom capability. Premium thermal costs more but delivers clearer images and longer detection ranges.
