How Magnifiers Work

A magnifier is a simple optical tube that enlarges the image of your red dot or holographic sight. Most mount on a flip-to-side (FTS) or quick-detach base. Look through the magnifier at your red dot for 3x, 5x, or 6x magnification. Flip it aside or remove it entirely for 1x close-quarters work. This setup is popular on patrol rifles, 3-gun competition guns, and home defense carbines.

Choosing a Magnifier

• 3x Magnification – Most popular choice. Extends effective range to 300+ yards without excessive bulk.
• 5x-6x Magnification – More reach but heavier and longer eye relief requirements.
• Eye Relief – Ensure the magnifier's eye relief works with your stock length and shooting position.
• Mount Type – FTS mounts flip to the side; QD mounts remove entirely. FTS is faster for transitions.
